Piers Ridyard is a British company director best known as the chief executive of RDX Works, the company that built the Radix network, and as the project’s public voice from 2018 onwards. He is routinely described as a co-founder of Radix alongside Dan Hughes, who founded the company as Radix DLT Limited in 2017 and wrote the protocol; Ridyard joined afterwards, publishing on the Radix blog as CEO from November 2018 and being appointed a director of the company in February 2019.

Between 31 January and 17 June 2025 he resigned every Radix-group directorship he held in a company still on the UK register, and that register has recorded no appointment for him in the group since. No Radix announcement has stated a change in his executive role, and he continues to be described as the network’s chief executive by third-party company profiles — a chief executive need not be a registered director, so the two records do not contradict each other, but neither has been reconciled publicly.

Identification

Companies House splits an officer’s appointments across separate records whenever the name is filed differently, so Ridyard’s UK directorships sit under seven officer identities — “Piers Shrewsbury Wedgwood Ridyard”, “Piers Shrewsbury Ridyard” and “Piers Ridyard” among them. All of them carry the same registered date of birth, November 1986, which is the basis on which they are read here as one person. The register publishes only the month and year of birth, and no further personal detail is reproduced on this page.

Career before Radix

Ridyard’s UK company record starts in March 2012 with Nifty Drives Ltd, the vehicle behind Nifty, a Manchester hardware startup funded on Kickstarter; he was also a director of Exosphere (UK) Limited from June 2013 and of Xoo Ltd, BXD Ltd and Xoo Holdings Ltd across 2015. All are now dissolved.

In 2016 he moved into insurance technology, joining Blocksure Limited as a director in June and leaving in October of the same year, then incorporating Surematics Limited in December 2016. Surematics built collaborative deal-room software for insurance underwriting and went through Y Combinator; it is the company Ridyard is most often credited with in interviews, and its exit precedes his arrival at Radix. He has said in interviews that he came to the subject through a background in law and finance, including a period at JP Morgan, and began mining Ethereum in 2015.

Radix

Ridyard’s first post on the Radix blog, setting out the project’s aims, is dated 15 November 2018; his author page carries a further run of essays and community Q&A sessions through to “The Road Post Babylon” in November 2023. Through the Olympia and Babylon releases he was the project’s principal external representative, giving the podcast and conference interviews that carried Radix’s scaling and DeFi arguments to a general crypto audience.

Formally, he was appointed a director of RDX Works Ltd on 14 February 2019 and of the UK Radix Foundation (company 12106715) on 16 July 2019. The register also records him from 30 November 2017 as a person with significant influence or control over RDX Works, an interest that ceased on 18 April 2023 when the company passed to RDX Holdings Ltd. A Foundation board update published on 13 February 2024 named him a director alongside the incoming non-executives Lindsey Lim and Lord Godfrey Cromwell.

Six further group directorships sit under his name. He was a director of Radix Tokens Ltd from June 2020 and of Radix Publishing Ltd from June 2021 — both UK companies, both since dissolved, and not to be confused with the surviving Jersey entities of the same names described on the Radix Foundation page. He was a director of GoodFi Limited, the not-for-profit DeFi-adoption initiative RDX Works convened, from February 2021 to December 2024; of Metabridge Limited from June 2021; and, from September 2023, of Metaverse (Radix) Limited — a Jersey company (registered number 136526) whose UK establishment was opened in April 2023 for the stated purpose of “provision on instabridge service to exchange digital assets”, i.e. Instabridge. That last appointment was never resigned — the establishment was simply closed on 29 April 2026 — and it is the only Radix-group appointment against his name that the register does not record him standing down from.

Departure from the group boards (2025)

Ridyard left the boards of the Radix group in two steps, both visible only on the register.

On 31 January 2025 he resigned as a director of the UK Radix Foundation. That is the same window in which control of the UK company passed to Radix Foundation Limited in Jersey and Andrew Jarrett became its sole director, and it precedes by three months the move of Radix development in-house that the RDX Works page dates to February 2025.

On 17 June 2025 he resigned three directorships on the same day: RDX Works Ltd, its parent RDX Holdings Ltd (of which he had been a director since its incorporation on 8 February 2023), and Metabridge Limited. Six weeks later the last founder directorship ended too: Dan Hughes’s appointment at RDX Works was terminated on 28 July 2025, the day after his death, and on 29 July 2025 two directors with no prior appearance in the group’s filings, Christopher Frank Hodgson and Claire Elaine Tait, were appointed in their place. Since that date neither founder appears as a serving officer of any live UK company in the Radix group; the one loose end, the Jersey-registered Metaverse (Radix) Limited, was closed rather than resigned from in April 2026.

The resignations were not announced. The Radix Foundation’s own move to maintenance mode, published 28 April 2026, names only Adam Simmons as stepping back and says that “remaining directors continue”, without listing them.

Other activity

Ridyard incorporated Compiled Ventures Ltd on 14 March 2025, registered to a Cardiff PO box under the SIC code for “other information technology service activities”. It was dissolved on 14 April 2026, thirteen months later, having filed no accounts. Nothing on the register connects it to Radix, and no public product has been associated with it.

He remains active on X as @PiersRidyard, where he posts about the Radix ecosystem.
