Vlad Butucariu (born c. 1987) is a Romanian UI/UX/product designer and entrepreneur based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He is a co-founder of Foton, IdeoMaker, and the Stream Wallet.
Career
Butucariu has worked as a UI/UX/product designer and co-founder at ideomaker, a self-employed design studio, since November 2017.
In April 2017, he co-founded Makerdam, an innovation and entrepreneurship hub in Rotterdam, where he currently serves. Makerdam provides space and resources for designers, technologists, entrepreneurs and innovators to create, learn, and launch startups.
From April 2012 to September 2023, Butucariu was a co-founder and board member of Open Set, a design studio based in Rotterdam.
He also founded and worked as a product designer at Flio, a Rotterdam-based studio focused on sustainable and ergonomic product design, from October 2014 to December 2021.
Earlier in his career, Butucariu co-founded and worked as a designer at Studio Squash, a design studio in Breda, from April 2012 to November 2017.
Education
Butucariu earned a Master's degree in Graphic Design from Academie St. Joost in Den Bosch, Netherlands from 2010-2012.
He previously obtained a Master's degree and a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from the National University of Arts in Bucharest, Romania between 2005 and 2010.
