Overview
The DeSci Foundation is a non-profit advancing reliable, transparent, and reproducible science through open, decentralized systems. Its mission is to explore and support improvements in the scientific ecosystem based on insights from meta-science and opportunities afforded by decentralized technologies.
The foundation's focus areas include scientific validation, replicability and reproducibility of research, efficient funding mechanisms, artificial intelligence in science, pluralism, and incentives and mechanism design.
DeSci Nodes
The foundation's core technical initiative is DeSci Nodes, a platform for sharing original scientific research using decentralized identifiers (CIDs) built on IPFS and dPID. DeSci Nodes address critical problems in today's scientific infrastructure: link rot, content drift, data sharing barriers, storage costs, and monopolistic data silos.
By using decentralized storage and persistent identifiers, DeSci Nodes ensure that scientific publications and datasets remain permanently accessible and verifiable โ regardless of whether individual publishers or institutions continue to maintain their servers.
