Andrés León Bohorquez

Andrés León Bohorquez is a back-end developer with more than 20 years of experience. He learned about cryptography through RipplePay back in 2005 and now participates, within the Radix ecosystem, in the formation and dissemination of Scrypto among the Hispanic community.

Early Life

Leon was born in Barcelona and raised in Palma de Mallorca. He discovered his passion for programming at 11 years old when he started copying Basic code from books and magazines. His fascination migrated to databases, beginning with Lotus software and Borland databases.

Education

Leon studied computer science and further developed his skills in the field. While at a polytechnic institute, he was introduced to cryptography and online payments by acquaintances from the telecommunications faculty. This led him to work with RipplePay in 2005, planting the seeds for his future career in distributed systems.

Freelance Project Director

Bohorquez took his first significant career step in March 2012, becoming a freelance Project Director. In this role, he has been responsible for overseeing a range of IT projects, particularly focusing on web development and cryptography-related ventures.

Freelance Technical Director (CTO)

By November 2021, he had assumed the role of a freelance Chief Technical Officer (CTO). In this capacity, he has been responsible for the technological direction of various projects and companies. His contributions span over a decade, primarily involved in creating the underpinnings of what is commonly referred to as Web 2.0.

Andrés is particularly excited about the next phase of the internet—Web 3.0. His interest lies in laying the foundational blocks for this new, more decentralized and transparent version of the web.
