Overview
The Hyperscale 500k TPS Public Test (January 2026) was a landmark validation of Cerberus consensus at scale. Led by team member Timan after Dan Hughes' passing, the test demonstrated:
- 500,000+ sustained TPS with peaks over 700,000–800,000 TPS
- 590+ nodes running on commodity hardware
- 128 shards — doubling from 64 to 128 shards doubled throughput (linear scaling confirmed)
- Complex DeFi transactions — multi-step swaps, not simple transfers
This validated the core thesis of the Cerberus whitepaper: that braided cross-shard consensus can scale linearly while preserving atomic composability.
