This weekend I had the chance to attend Hack the System UK 🚀 — a fantastic event hosted by some interesting individuals and organisations all exploring how tokenisation and Web3 can support community wealth building in South London 🏘️. Some of the key highlights from the event include: ✨ Inspiring discussions on using blockchain for social impact 🤝 Great conversations with organisations like Crystalisr, Caper (Andrew Ridge), ArtSect: Decentralised Arts Organisation 📲 A hands-on demo of the Radix Wallet It’s really exciting to see so much energy and innovation going into building more inclusive economic models 🌍. As I continue my studies I’m looking forward to seeing how these projects continue to develop and hopefully do my own part to aid them! 🔮. Thank you to David Randall, Andrew Ridge for being brilliant hosts! #Web3 #Blockchain #CommunityWealth #Innovation

Last weekend, David Randall hosted Hack the System UK, bringing together leading voices to co-create the first blueprint for a South London community economy powered by tokenization, staking, and collective governance 💡 The breakthrough? Discovering how Atomix’s matching engine can serve as the backbone of a platform where South London creatives trade directly with their community → capturing more value from their work, while strengthening local economic networks. 🚀 What this means: • Artists and designers can finally get a fair deal. • Collectors and supporters become stakeholders in culture. • The community itself owns the marketplace, not corporations. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who made this possible: 🙏 Crystalisr LSBU Global for hosting, 🎨 Avaunt Technologies, Inc. ArtSect: Decentralised Arts Organisation Regen Collective for visionary presentations 📢 Andrew Ridge , Valerio Ficcadenti, RADIX.wiki for amplifying the movement.

#CommunityWealthBuilding can take many shapes and forms, but one of the urgent matters that Crystalisr, LSBU Business School , University of Roehampton, #Radix and the ArtSect: Decentralised Arts Organisation were addressing at #HacktheSystem this weekend was the dysfunction of art, music and digital creative markets that cannot sustain local producers. At #HacktheSystem our focus was on how Web 3.0 technologies and decentralised autonomous organisations could enable the democratic ownership of a new platform for South Londoners, one designed to help our creators find their audience and build their supply chain from amongst our 1.2 million friends and neighbours. This initiative supports the Growth Ambition policy for South London which outlines South London’s 4 key growth clusters, one of which is 'Creative and Digital'. Thanks to the amazing HacktheSystem heroes who made it happen, especially Andrew Ridge, Valerio Ficcadenti, David-Barrington West, Philip Porter and Andrew Rankine, to LSBU for hosting (especially Rumel and Dauphine) and to the extraordinary participants like Imogene Garthwaite who gave up their weekend for a brighter future! Check in with us as we report on the weekend on the HTS website, https://hackthesystem.uk/ For more on South London's Growth Ambition, https://lnkd.in/eKxnXit7

History
HackTheSystem was conceived in 2022 by a coalition of organizations including Crystalisr, Regens Unite, and Blockchain Radicals, alongside academic partners like London South Bank University. The initiative emerged from converging interests in regenerative economics, smart-city development, decentralized arts, and participatory democracy movements.
Initially conceptualized as a single event, the first HackTheSystem gathering was postponed as organizers refined their approach and built stronger community relationships. After a three-year development period, HackTheSystem was relaunched in 2025 with a more focused methodology and clearer objectives. The initiative's evolution reflected growing interest in using blockchain and distributed ledger technologies, particularly the Radix ledger, to create community-owned cooperative structures modeled after established mutual organizations.
Purpose & Vision
To develop multiple Web3 platforms that connect local artists, creatives, and service providers with buyers in the South London Partnership area (1.2 million people), using blockchain technology to facilitate transactions and build community wealth.
Through exhibitor showcases and self-organizing teams, create diverse local supply chains where Hipsters (cultural visionaries), Hackers (technical builders), and Hustlers (business developers) collaborate to build innovative solutions. Teams will form organically around exhibitor platforms - for example, an art sales platform might attract artists, promoters, developers, and art buyers who will work together to enhance the platform according to their collective requirements.
Each team will compete to build the best community wealth building solution, with prizes awarded for the most innovative and viable platforms that keep wealth circulating within the South London community.
